I took my car to a local auto-repair shop and ask them to do a valve adjustment for it since it had 108k miles and the previous owner never done it. The shop told me it wasn't necessary as long as my valves weren't ticking. But I have read on this board that you need a valve adj. every 30k are so, plus it helps out interms of performance and gas......any suggestons or should I just take it somewhere else and tell them to do the valve adjustment?

Dude, if he NEVER did it in over 100k miles, you NEED to do it. Im assuming the timing belt hasnt been replaced either, so you might wanna do that too.
