thinking about a RHD crx
i currently drive a 97 integra GS-R. (i usually never venture out of the teg forum here at ht) i find myself looking out the window constantly making sure it's still out there and nobody has stolen it. i love my car, but it's just too much to worry about (i've had 3 seperate attempted thefts this year alone)
i think it's finally time to sell it and buy somehting i dont have to worry about as much.
i've been looking at the possibility of a rhd cr-x si-r (glasstop
)
i've done many searches on here and google and just cant seem to come up with a reliable trustworthy source for one.
i wold prefer to buy from an importer here in canada, or something already in the country but i'm having a hell of a time finding one.
i know there is a post by the user Deetz (i think it's from back in may based on my search) who imported a couple of them. not sure if it was his business or just somehting he was doing for people?
ive tried:
http://english.auto.vl.ru/auctions/honda/cr-x/
http://www.japaneseusedcar.ca/
http://www.jdmconnection.ca/
none of which seem all that trust worthy (except maybe jdmconnection.ca. it looks legit, but i'm still unsure)
i cant find exactly what i want
a bone stock 1990 SI-R with glass top and all the factory options (well, most options)
can someone point me in the right direction?
possibly to an importer already in canada?

ur scared of ur 97 gsr gettin stolen but you want a rhd rex? unless that rex is an automatic DX then its probably more likely to attract theives than the gsr isnt it?
probly not around where i live. alot of the "sport compact"people drive shitbox cars like cavaliers and sunfires
people around here arent into jdm, they are into rice. big wings and obnoxiously loud exhausts. sadly, they would likely be too stupid to know what they are looking at.
the only reason why people tried to get into my car is the sterio equipment and likely the engine.

JDM Connection can definately get what you are looking for. I work for them and if you are concerned about our reliability, give a call or email and we would be happy to provide some references from our past customers.

The ability to get a real legal RHD SiR cheaply and good quality beer are two top reasons for me to move to Canada-land! Dude, if you really want to worry about your car, that RHD SiR is gonna get noticed sooner or later and will be a much hotter item that any tegy any day of the week.
IMO the real RHD EFs are worth twice their weight in gold, and there might not be too many folks that know about it. The people that do know what it is are going to be the people running flatbeds and checkin forums like H-T. They know what they are looking for and will simply tow the car away if they really want it (it happens in LV all the freakin time, it's quite sad). Take the appropriate measures and your ride will have a much lower chance of getting jacked regardless what it is you drive.
I will say though, if you don't get that EF8, you need to have your head examined. That is the BEST street legal go-kart ever made! GET IT MAN!!!

CRX parts are valuble in every part of the world. If someone knows anything about imports they know CRX parts are easy to steal and easy to sell.
CRX's are definately cooler than integras
so buy one.
Just know that your integra is LESS of a theft magnet than a CRX.
Protect your vehicle.
They won't be breaking into it for the stereo, they'll only break into it to take the whole car. You can probably get insurance on it if you act like it's not modified.
("why wouldn't you be able to get insurance." - Canadian ins companies are not like the USA ins. companies.)

how exactly is it that an integra is less of a theft magnet than a crx?
the integra (in various G3 model years) accounts for 8 of the top 20 most stolen vehicles in north america last year. the crx isnt even on the list. i'm probly going to worry about it, but definitly a hell of alot less than my integra

look at how long has it been since the CRX has been actively manufactured. There are more LHD CRX in the US/Canada than almost any single Honda type other than the Civic base itself. Just because it didn't top the list recently doesn't mean it isn't still a hot item (not even touching the RHD rare models in North America). The fact that it is a JDM RHD EF8 is proof alone that there aren't many stolen, there aren't enough on the North American Continent to stack up to major theft numbers!
Look at Ferrari for example. The cars exist in the US and Canada, but in such small numbers even the ones being stolen/wrecked represent such a small number of the total pie that determines the yearly numbers. Look at the percentage and model trim of the JDM EF8 CRX vs. local LHD CRXs and that will prove that a 'teg with GS/GSR/Type R/Si and any other USDM/JDM variants has higher theft numbers due to standard availability but percentage compared to the RHD EF8 is lower.
JDM is a flag for "STEAL ME" or "VANDALIZE ME" to happen. They may look cool, but you will get an ulcer watching that it doesn't get jacked, more so than your current 'teg.

Anywhere on the West Coast I would worry as well. I know that CA and NV are rediculous for Honda theft (primarily due to proximity to LA & SD street racing punks and Mexico chop shops), usually much higher than most other places in the US.
