87 Accord. Worth the repairs?
My 87 Accord has been at the shop. I am told that the carburetor is leaking gas out the top. Also that there is a hole in the radiator. All of this is estimated to cost $800 to $1000. Would it be worth it to put this much into this car that isn't worth much more than those numbers? What are other options?
Not having mentioned if you'd have done any upgrades, (I assume it's showroom stock), I would suggest taking that 1000.00 and applying it to the price of a new(er) car. If you're on a budget (who of us isn't), and you like Accords, you might consider picking up a '91 thru '93. They come with the improved suspension (no more ball joints every year) and the larger 2.2 F motors. You'd be doing yourself LOADS of favors just by leaving the Carburetor behind and getting into the PFi fuel injection (much better system).
If your budget can stand it, you might consider a 5th generation Accord ('94 thru '97). A completely different car and a pleasure to drive. (and a LOT more performance parts available too!! )

well, putting in a new radiator and rebuilding the carb is somethign you can do yourself. if you were to do this yourself, it would only cost about $150-$200. if you don't do it and it will cost that much, i agree with P_Adams. go get something else.
