2003 Accord no digital lights anymore!
I have a 2003 Accord. Recently, the lights in my radio, a/c temperatures, and lights on the center console went out. I took it to Honda and they told me it was a light in the radio. The catch was that I would need to replace the entire radio console for a whopping $900! One of the mechanics said that a lot of people were experiencing this problem on their 2003 Accords. Perhaps, a recall on the radio but haven't heard anything yet.
Any suggestions??

Why do you have to replace the entire radio? Is it because the lights that burn out can't be replaced at all or is it because it takes too much time and effort to get at them? I would ask that question of your dealer and if it's the latter you might consider going in there yourself. Whether that's worthwhile really depends on whether you can guarantee that the radio can be removed from the car without doing any other damage. If so, the worst thing that can happen is you wreck the radio and need a new one anyway.
They really ought to just fix it under warrantee, though, if this is a widespread defect. Maybe call Honda themselves and complain. They might be more helpful than the dealer.

Does your car have some sort of security, if you remove the radio are you going to need to put in a code to get your car to start again???

Honda should replace the radio for free, even out of warranty...this is happening to many, many 2003 Accord's.

They might be more likely to do a goodwill replacement if you have a service history at the dealer. But if you call Honda and gripe loud enough they may pick up the bill for the part.

honda is a ******* ******* when it comes to petty recalls likke that, ive had a bad experience with that! i hope your accord is in warranty, or else u are screwed, and i think its bullshit that you would have to put that kind of money into a car that is 2 years old, LET ALONE A HONDA

This is ridiculous. If I buy another Accord from the dealership they will "over look" the radio that is freakin' broken and I can get into another lease or loan. I don't what's up. Everything works but the digital printouts. I can't believe that a stock radio would cost this much. I was going to sell it to carmax, hope they pay what I have left on my lease, and buy an Audi TT convertible. I should have bought that extended warranty!
Try another dealer, with the TSB in your hand, and explain to them how unhappy you are with xxx dealer, and how you are looking for a better dealer with a better service department, before you buy your next Honda.
If that still doesn't work, contact Honda Customer Service, mention the TSB, don't take No for an answer, and eventually you will get the free radio replacement.
Many, many others with this problem have already had it replaced. Honda knows it is a chronic problem and they will take care of you.

YES!!!
You guys were right. American Honda is going to contact my dealer and they are picking up the cost. I'm so happy. You saved me over $900. I'll be sending checks to everyone that helped. J/k.
Thanks for that TSB number. When I told them that between my family and I we've had 7 Hondas the manager took a long pause.

LOL that's great. Looks like you found the right way request warranty consideration.
