Your car came with 205/55-15 tires stock. The best 16" size to preserve the stock outer diameter and avoid rubbing is 205/50-16.

I'll assume you're not planning to use these tires in snow or frigid cold, so you are interested in summer tires, not all-season tires.

You didn't indicate your personal priorities in trading off price for performance. The best performing tires in this size are:

Bridgestone S-03 $161
Dunlop SP Sport Maxx $106 after rebate
Goodyear F1 GS-D3 $123

If you're willing to trade off a little performance for a lower purchase price, here are some others to consider:

Kumho ECSTA SPT $88
Yokohama AVS ES100 $81

Personally, I would choose the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx, which is their new top-of-the-line tire. In most sizes, it's priced higher than the S-03 and other top-of-the-line tires, but for some reason, in this size, it's a bargain, a lot less than the others. The price difference between that and the last two budget performance tires isn't all that much, so you get a significantly better tire for not much more money.
