Default rear calipers

How many pistons are in the rear calipers and what size they are? I did a search on google and in the FAQ but i could only find info on the rotor size. Aparently in 97 the piston size was increased a mm, but it didnt really say anything about the back. Dali racing said the rear calipers are all pretty much the same, so i was wondering if their any other honda caliper that is a direct bolt on fit? I am asking because Fastbrakes sells a kit for the back of my CRX to use and NSX setup. It comes with the rotors and the adapter but not the calipers. So i am trying to figure out what the best soultion is and if its worth it.

One per caliper.

So their really not any better than normal crx calipers? Unless that one piston is signifantly bigger than a normal one.

What's the piston size of the CRX rear caliper? I forgot how big the piston in the rear on the NSX but I think it'd be too big for a CRX and make your rear end unstable during braking unless your front braking is significantly increased.

Yes, I agree.

You're better off looking at what other people are doing for brakes and upgrades on your car, rather than trying to gerryrig a solution that was designed for another car, especially one whose performance, weight, drive wheels, and other characteristics are totally different from yours.

The 1997 rears actually have a smaller piston then the 1991-1996 calipers. The FAQ has it backwards. In 1997 the rotors got bigger, but not the pistons.

I am planning on a wilwood 4 piston 12.2 kit on the front. So i think the NSX kit would probly be fine in the back. Fastbrakes has a kit with every thing i need but the caliper. So did the rotor grow in thickness or diameter in 97? I want to make sure i get the right caliper for the rotors. And i am going to change my MC to acount for these upgrades. The dali racing guy told me they are all the same bolt patteren thought, so it should matter what year i get right? Thanks for all your help, this NSX stuff isnt to easy to come by.

In diameter (303 mm for '97-05 vs 282 mm for '91-96), but not in thickness.

The bolt pattern is 5x114.3 for all years.

Thank you, I think i just about got this figured out. but as for the bolt pattern i was talking about the caliper bolts. Fast brakes has rotors drilled for 4x100 for my car, somehow.

I don't know anything about the caliper bolts. Other than the fact that the two bolts that hold the caliper (the ones you remove when swapping brake pads) have 14 mm heads.

Incidentally, the rear rotors on the NSX are 21 mm thick when new. (Minimum spec is 19 mm.)

Make sure to get adjustable prop valves for your braking setup, or else your brake balance will be all fucked up.

**** i might just say screw spending 800 on rear brakes and just get some power slot rotors, good pads, and some braided lines. The wilwood kit is allready 725 for the front, this is getting expensive quick. I really do appriciate all the help, i might have to buy an NSX just so i can chill is this forum.
