Default flywheel separated!

when i installed my exedy pressure plate and act clutch disk last week...everything was going good until i tried starting my car weeks later. the only thing i can hear was the starter spinning any something else grinding. i thought it was my starter but it was good until i stuck my finger (where starter sits) to feel the flywheel...so now i know that the outer ring of the flywheels separated bc i can spin it with my fingers! the only way i can start my car is to clutch start it. any ideas how this happened? thanks guys...

what flywheel is it? if its aluminum it could be from metal expansion rates where the aluminum wheels have a steel ring and steel and aluminum expand at diff rates

its OEM...wow never heard of an OEM one doing that. Its really up to you on what you get if you want a little lighter but still OEM you can look at the Type-R flywheel

its probably not the flywheel....we had this prblem when we put in an si tranny....look at where your axles connect to the tranny...see if one didnt slip out...thats what makes that noise...the tranny is turning...but its not catching the axle so it sounds like a errrrrrrrrrrr grind kinda noise

That might explain it, if it weren't for the fact that he says he can roll it and pop the clutch to get it started. I don't think he could do this with axles popped out. And I don't think you could rotate the flywheel with your finger (unless broken) since you would be rotating the engine too.

I want to see a pic of this thing! If it did what you say, then . Never even heard of and OEM doing that. Like DarkDragon said, you might consider a B18C5 flywheel if you do have to replace it.

The findanza (7.5lb)flywheel normal on ebay isn't too bad either.
I've had it on for a couple months, probably getting close to 10k mileage,
And it's been holding up fine, with a few launches here and there.
