first off the car is a 99 EM1, b16...
so i installed a new passenger side axle last nite and refilled the tranny with Honda MTF. This morning I wake up to fire it up and I notice that when I put it in gear and slowly let go of the clutch to move the car there is a loud grinding noise from the front/tranny area
I looked under the car and it is leaking tranny fluid from where the passenger axle goes in to the tranny... the axle appears to be in properly, there's like a nickle-thickness gap between axle and tranny housing... axle seal perhaps?
But the noise worries me. It was a grinding noise.. I wasnt even going anywhere.. just put it in reverse and when I let go of the clutch very slowly i hear that loud grinding noise... happens on first gear too... what did I did wrong?! HELP!
i'm gonna look into it again right now...this **** is pissing me off. **** man lol anyways thanks guys!

is the axle in the tranny firmly, no play? Can you spin the axle when its in the tranny bu hand?
If the axle you have is from a generic parts place then you have the wrong one. Thye F it up because you have a civic SI with a b16, hence you need a b series axle. The axle shaft diameter is smaller on the D-series(all other civics). check that out first then worry about your seal. The seal is easy to replace search for "tranny seal" and you will prob find a write up(H-T is the ****)

^^thanks bro i'll go look into that right now...
so right now i just took the axle off again and i will compare diameters with the old one i had
and u know what, i spun the new axle and it dosent look straight it spins like somewhat an egg shape on the tranny side, plus it came off really easy no prying required, so the diameter might be smaller but anyways im going to check right now...
bump it up

If it grinded and your car wasn't moving at all, you might have your CV joint popped out of the axle...
Make sure you have the right axle, then remove it and try to push the outter joint until you hear a CLICK... after that click, there must NOT be any movement of the joint in or out the axle... then reinstall the axle and when you put it in the tranny housing, also make sure you hear a CLICK... the inner joint must NOT move in or out the tranny housing...

yo so it was a wrong axle, they both looked the same, except the wrong one has a slight smaller diameter at the very end, wont even notice it at first glance... autozone did give me an axle for D series, not 99 Civic Si
and I even emphasized DOHC VTEC B16A 1.6L...dumbasses lol
so i exchanged it with an integra axle and the car runs with no grinds and no leaks
thanks for tha feedback
