Default B20Z detonating after timing belt/other service

Hey gurus--

The B20Z in my wife's 99 CR-V is detonating after doing a service on it which included:

Change timing belt/water pump
change tranny fluid
change brake fluid
clean K&N
valve adjustment

It now detonates under load. I know we didn't let the camgears move over a tooth--as evidenced by the car's perfect idle and newfound pep.

Any thoughts on what the hell could be happening?

I'm willing to bet lots of money the belt is off by a tooth. Same thing happened to a Civic HX A buddy and I did a service on. It detonated under load and didn't make much power. Check the timing marks on crank with the cam pulleys.

Good luck.

Check the ignition timing... if it's way advanced you're probably off a tooth on the intake cam.
