Why do you say that, beacuse he is buzzed after a race. You try being humble when you have just eclipsed yet another record and are whipping the opposition. Half of it is he is Italian, its just his manner. If you see him in serious interviews he is one of the cooler racers.

I agree. His flamboyancy is of a boyish manner and celebratory bravado is shared in intensity w/all his fans. And when you're being competitive, you have to be quite strong in your personality or others will stomp all over you.

Vale is not arrogant compared to Juan Montoya, Ayrton Senna, or Nigel Mansell. He comes across as a real dude compared to those guys.
Poor Gibbers. He had the thing all wrapped up, until he went wide like a total amateur on the last lap. Unreal.

This is from Hopkins on his highside:
"It was my fault really. I've been taking a few painkillers that I've been getting from Dr Costa. I just tried to do the best I could and stick with the lead group, but unfortunately my foot was bandaged up and I just lost feeling in it. That was really dangerous because you are on the edge of the tire so much here. With a broken foot, I just couldn't feel it on the shifter and I tried to keep my foot clear but accidentally hit the lever on that corner, the bike shifted to second and then I was flying."

Add to that damaged cartilage in his ribs (I don't think landing from the high side felt too good).

Wha? People still die regularly at the TT. You are talking about the Isle of Man right? Because if you're talking about GP racing, really very few riders have actually died in the history of the sport. Lots of bad injuries but much fewer deaths than in open wheeled racing of yesteryear.

Road courses don't forgive. The TT is unreal.
