BOOOST is finally here! but one problem....
Okay, I posted a thread a little while ago asking if its okay to boost with only a FMU, B&M FPR and Walbro 255hp. I have the AEM EMS but no base program so I just need to drive it to get it tuned. Majority told me to take out my wastegate spring and not boost til I get it tuned.
So I put on the turbo today. Took me good few hours yesterday and today. Lots of little **** that I needed to do but got it done. Everything went well. Drove it WITH the wastegate spring in there, assuming my motor can handle atleast a couple psi of boost which it did fine.
So whats the problem? When I was on the freeway I stepped on it maybe little bit more than half throttle in 2nd gear, shifted when to 3rd gear.. throttled it some more, shifted to 4th gear... started stepping on it more then all of a sudden my CEL came on!
Now I was keeping an eye on my boost gauge and it look to be around 4psi is when this happened. I cycled the ignition key and the CEL went off. I'm thinking this might be throwing a MAP sensor code since its still the stock Honda map which I think can only take 1 bar? Thats my only guess as of right now. Also I cant adjust my FPR to be under 40 or 50 psi. Its one or the other, I just cant remember right now cause its late. Any help would be greatly appreciated. THanks.

if you are running the stock honda map on the stock honda ecu without any type of fuel added and you are boosting you are asking to blow your engine.
how about you take the engine out of the car and ship it to me... i'll pay shipping
it'll be the same thing as if you run it in boost without any type of fuel management. because it WILL get destroyed it is most likely detonating now and you just dont know it and it is going to let go. i'm surprised it is lasting as long as it has it must be a pretty healthy motor.
dont boost any more until you have some type of fuel management on the engine.

He just said that he using a FMU and a FPR... Till he can get his EMS going... But the way.. IF your not using a Missing Link Or check Valves you going to give CEL's Every time...
If you're using an FMU, you need an inline fuel pump! The walbro in-tank pump won't be able to handle the high fuel pressure by itself.
I would get the aem ems installed if I were you and use that instead.

Yup don't push a single psi, until you get to your tuner and use the EMS, and you'll be fine. Right now your stock honda ECU will freak out if it sees any positive pressure and throw you into super rich limp mode.

looks good, but yea the stock honda ecu cant see any positive pressure in the intake mani. just throw in the aem and go download a base program off of the forums.
oh, please clock your center section vertical, i dont wanna see the turbo seals take a crap on you

So I guess no more boost for me til I get it tuned. Ill just have to resist.
Let me get this straight though.... If I run the AEM EMS then it would be fine to run the stock honda map and Walbro 255hp? Or do I still need like say a GM 3bar map sensor and an inline fuel pump? This is assuming that its going to get tuned with those components. Im also installing RC550's when I get it tuned but my tuner said to run the stock injectors til I get it to him so thats what I'm doing.
Thanks for all the replys guys. Keep them coming!

you can use the stock map but if you plan on high hp numbers later on down the road then i would advise you to go ahead and invest in a 3-bar map sensor. theyre only ike 75 bucks. and the 255hp walbro pump will be sufficent up to 600whp. ive seen a little over 600whp out of the walbro 255hp's. theyre prety bad azz fuel pumps for the price.
rc 550's will be fine....but for the same price you could get some precision 880cc's and they would be better for later on down the road also...
just get that thing tuned!

PERFECT. Thanks for all your help.
Carlos "Bubba" is going to tune it at Do It Dyno in Longbeach CA. Ill let you guys know what the update on that is when I get it tuned. Next time with more pictures and a vid clip!

check valve is all you need, cost less than a missing link and better for temporary until you get an engine management.
and i dont know how your budget is but just get uberdata, and not waste your money bullshit "AEM EMS" that everyone in the world uses and aint no difference, just for a lazier group of people i guess that dont wanna remove a chip and burn it. haha
oh and nice INTEGRA!!!

I have a Moroso catch can but I didnt install it because I'm not sure how to run the lines. Any suggestions on how it should be ran? Thanks for noticing that!

Where can I get a check valve at? Would Autozone have it? Also where would I hook it up?
I already bought the AEM EMS and got a good deal on it so thats what Im going to run. ALOT more flexible than uberdata. Thanks.

Just make sure it's rich enough and pull back your static timing.</TD></TR></TABLE>
How is he going to find out what is rich enough and what is not? I don't see a WB02 in his car...
My suggestion for ozzy is to hook up the damn AEM, and just set the boost cut to 0.03 psi. Voila, you won't see boost at all. If you still want to boost but without tuning, then your motor is going to a hell soon (I'd say hell is pretty hot)
And you totally deserve it.
