rear trailing arm remove/install?
I'm trying to replace my passenger rear trailing arm, but I can't find a how-to in my chilton book and I tried searching around H-T but no luck. Anyone know of a online DIY for 96-00 civics?
Did you search the archives? There should be plenty on this. Oh, btw, get a Haynes or or something other than a Chiltons. I will try to do my best on this, so here goes.
1. Disconnect the parking brake cable.
2. Disconnect the the brake line (you can do these steps later if you want)
3. Unbolt the compensator-arm-to-trailing-arm bolt (it's the furthest one forward).
4. Unbolt the trailing-arm-to-body bolts (2).
5. Unbolt the trailing-arm-to-camber-arm (I can't remeber what it's called).
6. Unbolt the trailing-arm-to-shock- bolt.
7. Once the trailing arm is off, there should be 4 torque screws on the back of the drum/disc.
This should be it. If I missed anything, just add to it fellow H-Ters. Also, WD-40 and heat the bolt up pretty well. These bolt can be a royal P.I.T.A. if you don't. And even if you do they probably still will be. Hope this helps!

I went through all the archived results that came up for "trailing arm" and I didn't see anything that really helped. Can anyone verify the nighttrain33's instructions?
Thanks
Thanks
Try searching more. "rear drum to disc" returned 31 results, and many other variations would return just as many. I have done a rear-drum-to-disc conversion myself. It has been about a year, but it really isn't that hard. Just do as I said and unbolt everything and un-do the e-brake and brake lines, and you should be all set besides making sure that you WD-40 and torch the bolts.

Theyre good.
You MUST get an alignment after you replace it. I dont care how good you think you are at putting it back in the correct spot; its not safe if you dont get one.
