tein ss vs tein flex
I think the SS is made for the street (daily driver) and the Flex is made for the street and track. I know that the Flex comes with the pillow mounts and you can use the EDFC (Electronic Dampining Force Controller) which is tight as hell. There is a pretty big price difference though. If you don't mind spending the extra money I would get the Flex because it's well worth it. Good luck

Big Whoop. Insted of liftntg your hood and taking 5 mins to adjsut your shocks you can pay $500 more to do in your car... sorry I don't see the "tight as hell" Part.
I would choose neither, If you are serious about road racing I would look into either some Koni's with GC, Tein N1's or maybe some Motons or Penske's.

So you're telling me that if you're at the runs and your boys want to go canyon runing or some **** you would rather do it the hard way? It's not challenging to adjust your ride after a while it's just a hassle. I would rather push a few buttons and be on my way. Anything Tein puts out is "tight as hell" hater!

So you would rather spend $400 because 2 minutes of work is a hassle, while you probably spend days earning that $400... sounds like an even bigger hassle to me

There are more differences between the SS and Flex besides only the edfc compatibility with the Flex's. The valving and spring rates are different and the flex's have FAR more adjustability as far as height goes.
For the street, I would recommend flex's, if it was more of a road race car, I'd go with the Tein RE's. No matter what you can't go wrong with Tein. They are awesome products and well known for a reason.

So do you use a remote to change the channel on the tv or do you walk over and do it every time? If you stress off how much things cost then you have the wrong hobby. A grocery getter huh? You sound like you drive a Mustang or something
Yeah anyways those REs are tight as hell I was gonna get some but I heard that the spring rate was really really stiff. Then again Integra drivers should be used to that

hey get your facts straight, EDFCs go for about $275-$310.
For someone on the track or road who wants instant adjustability, its great.

On other note, I would really like to ride in a car with RE's to see how they compare to flex's.

Yeah I'm gonna build my new SOHC for circuit racing so I would like to ride in a car with them to to see what they're like. Anytime you knock Tein you're a hater, it's just one of those things you get what you pay for QUALITY!

Um.. I use a remote because it came with the TV and even if I had to get a replacement one its $5, and most everyone watches TV everyday; whereas an EDFC costs $300 and saves yous 2 minutes of "hassle" every weekend. Spend that $300 towards better tires, guaranteed more enjoyment.

The RE is a much more serious set up than the Flex, its basic design is very different (monotube) than the Flex (twin), and I'm willing to bet its damping is much better for the track. The Flex is a decent but its purpose is to be a compromised street/occasional track set up, not even close to serious set up. BTW, jealous of what? The fact that probably half of the damping adjustment on the Flex doesn't do anything?

Like I said if you're worried about spending money then you have the wrong hobby, $300 is nothing when it comes to the stuff that we buy for our cars. Your tires will ware out eventually this you should have forever unless you get jacked. If you're gonna do it do it right.

exactly.
I buy what I want for my car, I could give a **** who says what about what product, because most people that talk **** have never actually owned ANY of the products they are trying to talk about. In the end its my money and I have NO problem whatsoever spending money on QUALITY parts that make a difference and last. I didn't buy the Flex's for track use, I bought them for my daily driver. I know theres better set ups out there, but Tein is still a proven product and I bought them cause I wanted to be able to go really low w/o affecting shock travel and also to have instant adjustability from within the car. I am fully aware the Flex's are not made ONLY for track, they are a borderline street/track set up according to Tein. For the people that are only using their car for track use, screw the RE's and go stright to the N1 set up if you wanna be the man.
Anywho, I will be getting my EDFC in a few weeks, and I actually need new tires also, guess I'll just pick everything up at once

In what crazy world would it only take two mintues?
I have Teins on my car myself and I understand what it's like to not want to take off your tire. I can affor an EDFC right now. It's not an issue money but timing for it. The EDFC is more important for people who have time management. If you're going to circuit race the last thing you should worry about is the ride height. If you're just a local head riding around then why get an EDFC, you're not really doing anyting anyway right?
EDFC is the way to go down the line

I don't see how you have to take off the tires to adjust damping, the adjustments for Tein (as far as I know) are on the top of the shocks. Even if the dial is on the shock body like KYBs, all you really have to do is get under the car a bit (that's what I do).
In the end, its your money and you should do whatever you want with it, personally I think there's about a hundred things that I could do to my car before I buy an EDFC that would offer me much more satisfaction in return.

It's not about that at all. $300 is this business is nothing at all. Honestly, that's pretty cheap in terms of what you get in return.
The ride height is what you would need to take off your tires for.
The thing about the EDFC is that, that's the reason why it was made. I'm not sure how, but it's very possible for someone mess up their car while trying to adjust it. It happens..........

Since when did EDFC adjust ride height? All it adjusts is the shock stiffness... which is why it does nothing to improve performance, just convience of something that takes less 2 mins to do your self.

2 Depending on where I'm going during the weekend for SD to LA I would change things around. 2hr Driver + stiff hatch = Unofficial Circuit Course

My daily is also my autocross car, never been to downtown SD but I can appreciate how shitty the roads some places have. I usually just set damping down a click or two, never really found the need to change on the fly, this discussion is getting pretty pointless, like I said, its your money, but personally I would probably never buy something like it. And some of the Tein models are the only ones that uses an eletronic contorller like the EDFC, as far as I know, Penske, Moton, Zeal, AD, KONI don't have such a controller, so one could go as far as to infer that it isn't really needed, perhaps a slight convenience with disregards to the price.
