The red/black is a pos. (+) for the lights, and a better place to connect the light flash is at the park light free pin on the fuse box, it is also a pos. (+) I am not sure I understand what you mean by "i grounded the negative from the alarm n i hooked up the positive to the red n black" what kind of alarm is it? and when you talk about the pos. and neg. does the alarm have both a pos. (+) and a neg. (-) light flash output, or does it have a light flash input and output, [pos. or neg. input] and what ever you put in to the input, you get out of the light flash output?
Also the door trigger on a 92 civic is L green/red in kick panel, normally on 1 of 2 gray plugs 94

The park light free pin is on the fuse box, on your Civic the free pins are just above the fuses, the second one I think, if you look at your fuse box, above the fuses there is a row of 3 or 4 free pins, they are flat male spade term. inset into the fuse box, they look like, [and are about the same size] as the pos. (+) term of a speaker, or the pos. and neg. term of most sub woofers. there will be a 12V+ constant power, [live all the time] a 12V+ acc., [switched off the ign. switch] a 12V+ 2nd ign., [also switched off the ign. switch] and a park light, switch off the light switch] it can be used as an input, [alarm light flash] or an output, [if you wanted to add lights to you car]
You may be able to find the door trigger on a plug above the fuse box, it will also be L green/red, it is the wire that goes to the door ajar light in the instrument cluster.
As for the light flash, I still do not understand how it's being wired, there are 3 main ways alarms do there light flash output
1- low current neg. (-) output, [a relay is needed on most cars]
2- high current pos. (+) output, [on some alarms there will be 2 wires for output]
3- the built in relay, pos. or neg. in and out. [this system has 2 wires for the light flash, but one is an input and the other is an output, [whatever you put in to the input will come out the output] if you ground the input wire, the output wire will supply a ground when the alarm flashes the lights, if you hook the input up to pos. (+) the output wire ill supply a pos. output when the alarm flashes the lights.
By the way you describe how to wire the park lights, it sounds like it's the no. 3, [2 wire built in relay type] but if it is, then the input wire has to go to 12V+ not to ground, [you can get that at the free pins also], I will check at work tomorrow for the wiring diagram for your alarm, I need the model number, I will also check on my sisters 92 Civic for the door trigger wire 94

PS can you post the wiring diagram?

YW, and thanks for letting us know what the problem was and how you fixed it. [instead of just not posting again] this way we will not have people posting fix's for a problem that is fixed. 94
