2001 Honda Civic Problem
Hi, I just got a new car: a honda civic lx 2001. I love the car, but I have one problem. Whenever I unlock the car or lock it and come back about a minute later, it has automatically re-locked itself and, when I try to get into it, an alarm goes off. I really do not like this feature and I wish to rid myself of this auto-arm feature or whatever you call it. I have read the manuel and have found no help whatsoever. Can anybody PLEASE tell me how to get rid of this?? Thanks !!
Is the alarm itself new? A while a go, the alarm i had seemed to always look itself and sometimes immobilise itself when driving. I reset the alarm (as it came with a pin to rest) but didnt do anything. Then i relise that the alarm was past its used by date. But try reset the alarm, that could work.
Thank you for you help. But how do I reset the alarm? I have two keys and one valet key, and I also have two 'clickers' with an unlock and lock button on them. But, there's also an Options button on it. What does that do? Thanks !!
I am assuming that this is an aftermarket alarm, as the factory honda alarm fob does not have an "options" button. You will need to figure out the brand of alarm installed and get instructions for it.
As an aside, the factory alarm does autolock, and I do not believe the feature can be disabled.

I have a 04 TSX and it does the same thing. If you lock it with the key fob and then unlock it it will relock the doors after about 30 sec. If I open one of the doors or the trunk it won't do it. I think its set up that way in case you unlock it accidently when you are putting the keys in your pocket or something.
