From what I have gathered over the years, motorcycle oil is better suited to the high rpms and temps over standard automobile engine oil.
I only use spectro in my bikes.

If you are careful which car oil you use, it works great. Also I would make sure you do frequent changes with car oil. Well even with bike oil. Viscosity drops more quickly than in your car because of the higher heat and trans gears.

I use the higher weight non-EC Mobil1, Redline, and even GTX oils in my bikes and I have no problems with clutches or anything else.
Edit: But, if you don't feel like doing some tedious reading first, a motorcycle specific oil is always a safe bet.
