possible to test coilovers without them being installed on a car?
i've got a set of rusty tein HA's that i took off my car with ~50k miles and they've been sitting in a shed for about a year now and i want to sell them, but i don't want to sell them if they're bad. i haven't really had much interest in them lately because there's so much rust on them, is there a way to get these tested to make sure that they still work fine? they worked perfectly fine on my car, though they look like ****..

I'd check the bumptops, and rubber bushings in the rear lower mounts to see that they're still OK. I don't see why you couldn't scrub that rust off with some steel wool and cleaner or something, which would be a good idea anyhow if you plan on reusing/selling them, as rusty threads make collar adjustments a bitch. Other than that, unless they internal gas/oil has somehow leaked out, they should be ready to rock.
edit: nevermind on the steel wool, lol thats not just surface rust.

They do look toast in those pictures. You're best bet on selling them would be to sell "as is" for a low price unless you clean them up real good and test them.
