Default axles/cv joints

Theres a clicking noise when I turn in my 91 accord. Its automatic. I was told its my axles/half shafts/cv joints. Are auto and manual the same?

i'm not sure if they're the same, but when i went in the other day to get a tire replaced, i had them give me a quote, and they asked me if it was an auto or a stick, and i have a 94, so i'm guessin that for that year they are not, but i'm not all that sure.

if you hear a ticking when you turn, 9 times out of 10 it is the cv axles, which are the same as the cv joints and half shafts. they are all essentially the same. jack it up and look at the axle going from the hub to the transmission and intermediate shaft. usually what happens is the cv boot tears and all the grease flys out and eventually the joints in the axle crap out. a new axle will run you about 70 bucs or so.

Yep cv joints are bad, go replace the axle(s). Well, depending on which way you turn to get that "clicking" noise will determine which side went bad, ie. left turn = driverside, right turn = passenger. Usually auto's and manuals are different parts.

I know they are definitly different in the next gen up from yours because the auto driverside axle doesn't have an intermediate shaft so it is twice as long as a manual drive one.

Just replaced my bro's axles (both) the other week.
