I'm looking to upgrade my braking setup to Brembo Blanks and Axxis Ultimate pads.

However, I drive my car in the winter too.

Will these pads be okay for my application?

It's a 99.9936% street car, but I plan on doing THREE autoX events this fall. Next year, as much as I can.

Should I stick with OEM Honda pads and Autozone blanks? I can get them for $33 with my buddy's discount.

Or should I do the Brembo blank/Axxis Ultimate setup for $122 shipped?

 

imo if its just street use then axxis pads would be overkill. and prolly really dusty

 

axxis ultimates and brembo blanks I think you will be happy with that setup, the pads are supposed to have good initial bite and very low dust.

 

heard nothing but positive things about Hawk pads and brembo blanks

How is that overkill when they are just a step over stock and provide substantially better braking power than oem?

Axiss pads are really good, I have them on my accord with brembo blanks with stainless steel lines and braking was improved and they are really not dusty at all. I think you would be happy with them especially at that price.

You must have the Metal Masters.

Ultimates are very dusty and are far ahead of stock pads in terms of bite and fade resistance.

My apologies, you're right...I always get those confused easily. The metal masters is what I have and the reason I didn't go with the ultimates was due to increased dust and they are easier to wear down especially for daily driving.

 

No experience with Axxis Ultimates but from my experience, the Metal Masters on my previous car were by far the worst pads I used. IMO, the OEM Honda pads are terrible, well, at least the ones on my SiR were - just a simple change to Hawk HPS pads made a world of difference in terms of braking power and bite.

 

I have metalmasters on my 97 civic right now. I does get a bit dusty but thats after I havent cleaned the wheels for like a week. I wouldnt say they are dustless.

 

I would recommend Axxis ultimates and autozone rotors. Spend on the pad, not the rotors...

Anything wrong w/ your stock rotors that you can't reuse them?

Also, to improve your braking, bleed the system and use a decent fluid. Valvoline Super Syn gets my vote.

Last, if you have drum brakes, take the rear drum off and adjust the rear shoes as tight as you can w/o the shoes dragging on the drum. Your brakes will be outstanding for street use.

I have brembo blanks and axxis ultimates dusty as **** man. No joke, but stop great too, try it youll see.

 

i have to agree with the general concensus and say that the brembo blank/axxis ultimate combo is a great setup for the street that can easily handle light to moderate track use. They are jus hella dusty.

I run the Axxis Ultimates on Brembo rotors and they stop great, but they do get the rims dirty fast. (a few days if you drive spirited)

yeah but this is for a street car with the occasional AutoX.

the axxis ultimate pads are really dusty, aem is crap, project mu are awesome but they have to get farily hot before they really work that well, i say for what your doing go with what you originaly planned on brembos and ultimates good combo.

 

Ultimates arent that bad. Ive had them for like 2 years with no probs. The dusting isnt too bad.
