Default does the header really matter that much?

my freind just did a build up consisting of a full ported head upgraded valvetrain 84mm sleeved 13:1 comp block. the car is running aem ems with stage 3 skunk2 cams and manley valvetrain with a skunk2 IM and a dc sport 4-1 jdm header. now it only made about 215 whp and about 155 torque for the car completely tuned. could the header be restricting that much whp.??? we were hoping more in the range of 230s. could it also be that the apexi ws exhaust might be just too small diameter piping for this type of all motor setup.? any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks

Get a better header, and atleast a 2.5 inch exhaust.

personally i can't see you making that up in just the header. if you had manifolds on there you could pick it up, but you have a half decent header on there. there may be some power to be had there, but 15whp is pretty huge

i didn't read what header you were using so i assumed stock... which is very restrictive!

with your setup you should look into the equal-length... if you don't have to worry about emissions.

Potentially, though perhaps not the full 15 whp you're looking for.

The WS is not terribly free-flowing as far as high-performance, all-motor exhausts go.

Look into an SMSP header and a 2.5" exhaust system, and you should realize significant gains throughout the power band.

It could be in the header/exhaust. I've seen a B16 stock make 138whp w/stock header/exhaust and then make 152 open header 5 min later.

What is the ID of that exhaust? On a 2 liter NA application such as yours I would think AT LEAST 2.5" ID--if not 2.75" ID. Also a better header alone I would think would give you at least 10 whp!

yup get some RMF or SMSP with a 2.5 custom catback if you drive the car every day but if its only track go 3 "
