Cam Gears, V-AFC, ITR Cams
Would the V-AFC and cam gears make any sense to get with my current mods (I/H/E)? Would I be able to pull a little bit more power with them? Or would it be a waste of time without going with something like ITR cams? Better yet would just cam gears be ok since I've heard that the V-AFC is kinda useless without upgraded cams?
Using Just the intake cam would suffice for you.... I would say that if you plan on revving past 8300 or so, which the ITR cam likes... then swap the valvesprings/retainers... I would much rather pay for the valvesprings/retainers and not worry about floating a valve...
Cam gears are a must for tuning. Obviously, tune them on the dyno.
Also... for such an agressive cam... look into the Skunk2 IM...
I can atest to the fact that a reliable setup with a CTR cam and crower dual valvesprings/titainium retiners is achievable while hitting the 1/4mi track weekly and shifting at 8700rpm...

what do you know about the jdm itr intake cam? those are just now being sold on inlinefour.com. And you think adding the skunk2 im will also give me gains with those other components?

yeah ive read a few of them, anyhow does anyone know about jdm itr cams as opposed to usdm? also what about head gaskets, are these a good idea to do?
1.- ITR cam are actually MILD cams.
2.- Valve float will not happen with stock GSR springs and stock redline.
3.- Valve springs are not the only thing that dictates what the redline should be. Other things like wear and tear, fuel efficiency, reliability, etc and looked at also.
4.- Everything is designed with a factor of safety. Take it from and engineer!
5.- If you are going to install cams, why not get both cams? I bought the exhaust cam for $135 SHIPPED.

I am not a drag racer and I have gone to the track just once. I am still working on the launch.
Icebox, ITR exhaust, Carsound Cat, JDM ITR header
98 ITR cams, S2 gears, VAFC
With both cams the car makes HP all the way to redline. With 1 cam, it will drop off after ~7800 rpm. The exhaust cam does give more HP, but the intake cams gves 3X times as more. I am happy I have both cams.
