Default built ls/vtec vs. my toda built motor

i dont have anything against ls/vtec...i lied...i do actually. i know many people that have lsvtec but not one resulted in true success. yeah its good for the moment but hell... my buddy of mines built his lsvtec saying that he'll smash on my toda built mut (11.5:1 high comp pistons, toda itb...camshaft...valve...retainers and springs...stage 3 racing clutch)

the question that im asking is that is there anyone out there with an allmotor lsvtec breaking high 13s that drivin it for more than a month with no prob? (integra body)

i have a 4dr by the way...

I havent been back to the track yet, with my B16 tranny, flywheel, and coilovers, so we'll see how i do.

My motor isnt FULLY BUILT, the bottom end is built, but no headwork yet, im puttin down 186 whp 150 trq, 12.5:1 compression LS/Vtec in a 91 integra.

I've had it for about 3 months now, with no real problems.. im happy!

I seriously doubt that any of that is truth. I can break high 13s in my LS Integra on drag radials.

With a race LSVtec build, you should be in the high 11s or low 12s on good slicks and on a good cool day at sea level.

No, the OP.

A built LSVtec with ITBs and race cams with high comp pistons should be able to hit much faster times than an LS with built head and management.

his lsvtec does not have itbs...im sure hed run much quicker with a diff tranny...he has the top half built...intake headers and open exhaust...street tires...from what you guys are saying...maybe the car just needs a driver. i never had the chance to run my car at the track yet

Intake headers and exhaust, doesnt count as "built"

thats bolt ons.

Hmm, he's probably only putting down 150-160whp.
I'd say you could at least keep up with him.

i know a few guys running lsvtec for more than a month. all oem build ported heads and skunk2 stage 2 cams result in a decent amount of whp.

i think the rod bolts, and bearings are the weak point. as well as balancing the bottom end.. if you tap the head correctly and run a quality ls/vtec oil line, oem ls headgasket, you shoudl have no problems.

a friend of mine has a 11.96 sec. eg hatch. pushign 217 with a ported head and sk2stg2 cams.. ran it for a year. now that motor is sitting in my integra. minus his trick head and cams.. i'm at 191 whp on the dynapack, 177 at hookups. had the motor since late february.. no problems whatsover with the block. but its time to change valve seals
