Default ok so i got the dash out, of the teg

ok i took out the dash of my 3 door integra, im replacing it with a 4 door integra dash, because my old one had holes where a tach was mounted and i want the cleanest look possible... but before i swap, what do i do about the vin number? i dont know if its on a part that can unscrew, or if u have to just swap the entire dash, i dont want to get into any legal trouble doing this switch

I believe that the VIN just has little clips on the underside of the dash. I dont really think it would be a legal issue, just besure to keep the original vin tag.

actually, its riveted in. What you can do is carefully remove it and with a rivet gun, rivet your actual VIN back into the dash. Or....use some screws.

why go through all the trouble, time and money, just for 2 holes that no one will notice.. just put black tape on it, problem solved!

ummmm...either way you still don't want that other VIN anywhere on your car. Sure he bought the part legitimately, but still not worth the hassle over it should he get pulled over. When I did my interior conversion, I lost my V.I.N plate that went on the dash...and since it was not replaceable by Acura ( or so they told me ) I had to rock a vin-less dash It was just my luck to get pulled over a week later and caught some **** for it....

*edit*...I noticed he's in cali too.....in that case...its definitely worth the trouble to swap over the VIN plate

i was looking, it looks like the vinyl part of the dash isnt actualyl attatched to the bottom plastic part of the dash looks liek tis with screws, also i want to change it out because the old owner shaved off the cruise control and dimmer switch to make it fit 2 inch gauges, im about the stock look i dont want those pieces to be gauge holders

ACTUALLY...it's a federal law to tamper with ur vin tag....to change it go to ur local dmv...they actually can and extra vins to ur vechicale...my buddy got pulled over he changed his dash..even used rivets when he changed it...and the cop noticed that the rivets where diff...i guess they use some special kind..well anyways they have the right to impound ur car if they SUPSPECT vin tampering so they can run all the vins on the car and back trace them...it's cost alot as well as a ticket..becareful..i change dash's all the time legally..just go to the dmv as to speak with a manager about changin vin tags...most of the reg csr's r idiot's and will say it doesn't matter..but trust me you can get fawked in some states..they have different impound laws..good luck
