Default Installing NPR ring into b18c, which side should face up? HELP!

hey guys im installing some npr rings onto my gsr piston. After taking a look at the ring i noticed that on the rings one side have a groove on the outter edge and the other side don't. So my question would be does anyone know if the groove side of the ring should be facing the top of the piston when installing or should it be facing the bottom when installing? I noticed that on the side with out the groove edge has a letter "N" on it and the side with the groove edge does not have a letter "N". The rings im talking about are the two compression ring, the 1st and 2nd ring that is. Please anyone??? HELP!
