Default LSD in a LS tranny?

I bought a LSD that came out of a oem ctr tranny. I was woundering if that LSD would fit into my 00 LS tranny? Going turbo that's why i want the LSD, incase you guys were woundering! The guy i bought it from said it would only fit into a 99-00 civic SI tranny!

thanks for the help

One concern I have is how many miles do you have on the LS tranny? You may need a rebuild in the near future and the labor for LSD'ing it now will be a waste of money.

I think your best bet would be to find a SI tranny now and sell your LS tranny. My friend just got an 00 SI tranny for $400. If you can do that, and sell the LS tranny for $200, it shouldn't be that big of a deal and you'll get a HUGE performance improvement compared to anything else you can get for $200-$300...

my ls tranny has 50000 miles on it not a lot at all. the thing is if i get a SI tranny i would still have to put the lsd in it and pay for the labor!

What I was saying is, get the SI tranny now and only pay for the labor once. Don't know how you drive the tranny so, it's hard to speculate how much longer it will last...

i was gonna do the same thing, but i would've had to rebuild my tranny since my tranny was grinding. So, instead of getting a non grinding LS tranny and cracking it open, i just went ahead and got myself a non grinding tranny equipped with LSD. IMO you should go ahead and do it. like you said you'd have to buy a new tranny then crack that open to install the LSD. save money, crack your current tranny and put in the LSD. i personally would keep the LS tranny just because it is shoter gearing and i prefer shorter gearing for a turbo application. this is gonna be for a daily driven car right? for a track car i'd definitly go with the shorter gearing though.

Are you absolutely sure the LS tranny has shorter gears than a B16A tranny???

I have to disagree with this, theres no way that the LS tranny has shorter gear than B16 tranny.

speculation. a lot of people, like me, will say the ls tranny is still too long. even for turbo.
btw, i hope you're not one of those "longer gears keep you in boost longer" people.

You gotta be making LOTS-O-POWER for the LS tranny to be better. If he doesn't want to spring for a new tranny, I doubt he'll be making enough power to get to that point.

no i'm not... i just wouldn't want to shift out too early. i feel that in my N/A setup with my 4.785 final drive (even though i love it) i feel that i shift out too soon. i'd hate to shift out like 2 seconds after i get into a gear. also you can utilize the RPMs better with longer gearing w/ FI. IMO

this is going to be a daliy car, but going for high hp and high torque. i do want to keep my LS tranny, but was just woundering if the ctr LSD will fit into it? i did a post back a couple weeks and a guy said that it could but just want to make sure. And if i call up a shop do you think they will know?

I have to install my new clutch, flywheel, short-shifter so my tranny will have to go to the shop anyways.

thanks for all the repiles guys!
