Default Do I really need to add felt for a Tint job on '05 Accord Coupe?

I did a search, but no hits... hoping someone here knows the facts.

A few months ago I was shopping for an Acura TL (love that car) but my lady and I decided to buy a house this summer, so a $35K car was rather irresponsible (god I hate being responsible sometimes, lol) anyway, I am about to become (in about 3 hours) a happy new owner of a '05 Honda Accord Coupe and I want to tint it (getting Silver and the look of dark windows on a silver coupe).

I read all the Acura boards and the big deal was that Acura didn't put felt into the doors to protect the windows the way most car makers do, so when you tinted it you had to pay for them to felt the doors as well as add the tint.

I just called my first tint shop and they said the same issue is common with the '05 Accord (more common in the coupe than the sedan)... but I'm having trouble confirming this.

Can anyone please confirm or deny that the '05s have an issue with no felt in the doors? If for some reason my search missed a thread, feel free to point me there.

Thanks so much!

on a side note not to highjack your thread but do the 95s have felt, or is it just the new ones

Alright, I did a bunch of research and found a great tint shop. Spent all afternoon with the owner on Saturday, my car's in there now (as I type) getting the Madico non-metalic (so it doesn't mess with my navi system) 20% Charcoal tint on there (the non-metalic is actually called "Charcool" if anyone's wondering).

They said they add felt to the tint jobs on new Acura's all the time, but don't get many requests for the Accords. We did look at the door together and the Accord does NOT come with internal felt, only felt on the outside.

He said it was completely up to me if I wanted the felt added... and that it will often leave very minor scratches in the tint, usually not enough for anyone to have issue with, but that it definately has happened to those that don't add the tint.

He only wanted $50 to do the felt on both doors, so I said go-for-it.

Hell, this is my very first brand new car and I want it to stay perfect for as long as possible. My girlfriend and I went to dinner last night and blew $180 on a meal... I can justify $50 for felting the windows!

If anyone else wants to know though, there is NOT felt in the '05 Coupe (at least not the one I got).
