i have a freshly assembled ls/vtec and it seems to be running good. but today i noticed im in 5th gear at about 2400 rpms and instead of the oil psi being at like 70ish at was climbing to around 80-85, then it would drop back down to around 70 or so. why would it i guess "spike" like that then come back down any help would be awesome

 

My boys GSR build does that. They told him its fine. But I dont know so dont quote me on that.

its perfectly normal, its just the pressure relief valve in the pump opening.

 

O ok. But why would just start jumping like that?

 

as the pump builds up too much pressure the relif valve relives the pressuer hance the drop your seeing....
