Just a little inspiration for you dc2 guys that are trying to lighten up.....
My dc2 gs-r weighed in at 2250 without me in it.
For those who wish to lighten up their integras I will seperate the weight reduction that i did in stages ranging from beginner to extreme....
Stage 1: (free stuff)
-Spare tire and jack
-rear carpet
-rear seats and seat cushion
-rear seatbelts (these things weigh more than you think!)
-rear sideliners and endliner
Stage 2 (more free stuff)
-rear wiper and motor
-Antenna unit
-passenger airbag (you dont need to buy a tray for this, just take of the cover on the air bag, and reuse the cover, without the airbag under it.
-headliner
Stage 3
carbon fiber hood
Sparco fighter seats with custom lightweight brackets
power steering system (replaced with loop system from padawan)
AC pump, lines and evaporator box underneath the dash
windshield fluid reservoir
Custom lightweight catback exhaust
Lightweight 15 inch rims
custom sidemarker brackets
Stage 4 (only for the stronghearted !)
Braille 11 lb battery
Sound deadening tar
front bumper support
rear bumper support
ABS (coming soon)
Sunroof ( replaced with carbon fiber insert; looks pretty sick with the carbon fiber hood...believe it or not, this one piece of weight reduction made the biggest difference of all....the whole unit weighs 35 lbs and it is at the highest point of the car. When I removed it, it felt like a totally different car.....)
For those who doubt weight reduction, I **** all over stock and exhaust modded WRXs in this car all day and all night..and my motor is bone stock !
looking for a 14.3 -14.2 my next time at the track
Comments welcome...
P.S. Only positive comments or constructive criticism please....weight reduction isnt for everybody...if it is not for you, then kindly move on to the next post. I dont give a flying fu(k what you think about reduction..its my car and I love it and wouldnt have it any other way. This being said....any moronic comments wil be dealt with appropriately.....for those who are as hardcore as I am...enjoy

there are sunroofs that just have a latch to open them up an inch or so for air to get in, not motor needed, like on a 240 sx se (friends car), a carbon fiber insert could still vent air, i am interested as well on what he did

Thanks for the replies guys...
Im glad you asked about the sunroof because there is a whole story behind it....
When I first started looking at the carbon fiber sunroofs (lighterfaster.com) I realized that with the kits that were on the market, there was no way to open the roof; the carbon fiber has to be riveted in place. Well with a little creativity and patience, i found away around that.
Instead of riveting the carbon fiber to the roof of the car, when you take out the factory sunroof, you will see that there are lips that come down on either side oif the hole where the sunroof used to be. So upon seeing these lips, I had an idea. I shot over to lowes and picked up a piece of plexiglass, and some aluminum brackets to test my theory. What i did is i drilled holes into the lips on the roof, and the I put L brackets on the plexiglass roof, so that instead of riveting the carbon in place..I could just screw the roof into place, and unscrew it whenever I wanted to. So effectively, for racenights, I can unscrew the sunroof and put the carbon fiber roof in, and if I have a hot date the night after, I can unscrew the carbon fiber out, and put the factory sunroof back in ! The whole process takes less than 5 minutes !
About opening and closing............
The factory sunroof system come altogether in a tray, so even if you remove the factory sunroof, when you pop it back in , you can still use the automatic functionality. Unfortunately, with the carbon fiber/plexiglass roof in place, theres is no way to automatically open the roof because the motor is connected to the factory roof, and even if the motor was still on the car, it isnt connected to the carbon fiber roof in anyway. For those who want to go half @ss on this, I cant imagine that it would be to hard to take the factory glass out of the sunroof and replace it with carbon fiber, but still keep the rest of the sunroof system so you can keep the automatic functionality, and weight benefits of the carbon fiber at the same time ( doing this however, will only remove 20 lbs, as opposed to the full 35 lbs. I didnt opt to do this however, because I wanted to remove as much weight as possible.
Final point........with the screw in /screw out option that my carbon fiber roof has, I can actually open or close the carbon roof, but only manually, in other words if I want to open the roof, I have to get out of the car, unscrew it from the closed position, and then screw it into the opened position. A bit of a pain in the @ss if you must have the automatic function, but trust me when I tell you..once you see how the car handles without the sunroof, you wont even want it anymore....
P.S. the lighterfaster carbon roof is ~300$.....if you dont want to spend this much money, you can actually just buy a sheet of carbon fiber 33 by 23 inches, and cut it to size

love it!!!!
weight is so commonly overlooked
look at the Elise! 195 bhp (ITR engine) at 1629 lbs and runs 12.6 @ 110 and 4.4 sec 0-60
not to mention pulls 1.02g on the skidpad!!!

did you leave the rear seatbelts in the car?
drivers air bag? (goto a lighter wheel too)
I'm assuming you swapped to coil overs already which also in some cases reduce weight a bit.
Aluminum radiator too?
Remove sway bars for drag racing (not for autox though)
isn't the old saying something like 100lbs = 3hp?

More plans? Cutting the doors, maybe? Lexan windows?
You track this thing alot, right, or does it see alot of time as a daily driver?
Is your interior completely gutted? Is the dash still there? Just wondering.

Nah, she isn't like the avatar
But removing that passenger seat is the best mod I've ever done. Nobody ever asks for a ride. When they do, I open the door, and let them see what they'd be working with. Haha
