Default RSXer needs final drive expertise from his DC2 brethren

Okay, I know how well versed all of you are on final drives, so I'm gonna throw this one out.

I want to replace the 4.38 final drive in my RSX-S with a shorter one. The new Si, DC5-R and CTR all use a FD in the 4.7 range. I know the ITR and CTR FDs would probably bolt in, but I'd like to use the Si FD for cost reasons.

Considering the Civic and RSX both use the K20 motor, would the final drive in the Si 5sp bolt into the 6sp tranny in the RSX?

Thanks much!

Maybe, maybe not. All B-series trannies (to my knowledge) can fit the same size diff/final drive, but I have no experience with K-series trannies.. if both (edit: tranny housings) can fit it, then yes, you can swap it over, but there might be a countershaft difference, etc as well.

There's no reason for it not to just because there's an extra gear on the countershaft/mainshaft. But you will need to swap more than just the FD.
