i recently bought a wrecked 92 civic CX and came across a GSR engine/tranny for only $1,000. its still in the crate straight from the dealer. i was wondering what else i would need in order to drop the b18c into my 92 civic cx. ive checked around online and have come across unsure information, i just wanted to get my **** straight before i took on the project. im new to b series engines, until i came across the cx i was only interested in DOHC ZC's because i have a 90 hatch as well and didnt feel like putting a b16 in it due to cost.
anyways, the info ive come across says, that i will be able to drop the b18c straight into the engine bay with no mods, and only have to swap out the axles for GSR integra or 99-00 civic si axles. since my car is not vtec...i was curious to know if i will also need a gsr wiring harness. one of the sources said that i can wire the vtec up myself but i just assume buy a whole harness thats already wired for it. i was also wondering if i will need b series motor mounts (even if the ones in the car are still in good condition).
id like to know what brand axles to get, and keep in mind that i do plan to highly modify the engine inside and out down the road..and i just assume go ahead and get high speed rated axles now, unless stock gsr or civic si axles will hold up. i found some stage 1 axles on ebay that were rated at 200hp..thats no good.
id also like to know if the p72 ecu is the best OBD1 ecu for this motor, i dont feel like buying any conversion stuff in case it wont pass inspection. i found a JUN programmed ecu on ebay for $220 BIN price. if anyone has a stock p72 for sell for less than or equal to $100 let me know because ill probably buy it off of you.
lastly, is there anything i will have to do to put the transmission in , or is it a direct bolt up? (do i have to have the shift linkage for that engine/tranny?)
thanks for your time...respond asap...i plan to buy it within a week from today

it will be a pefect drop-in swap. I say use the CX harness and add the plugs you need ie. VTEC selenoid, VTEC oil pressure, knock sensor, IAB. Use gsr axles/intermediate shaft and mounts. well...all you really need is b-series driver side mount and rear bracket really. A p72 will work fine with the jdm gsr.
by the way, you have a 1-wire or 4-wire o2? for some odd reason, my lil bro's EG CX had a 4-wire o2...weird...
if you have a 1-wire, you'll need to wire up for 4-wire.
