Get in the 13's with an NA B18B LS in a 92 CIVIC CX?
I am debating on a motor for my 92 cx hatch.
My main goal is to be in the 13's, but i have a few questions....
I am reading another post right now about the advantages and disadvantages of the LS swap....and the GSR swap.
1 being as the LS swap has great torque, but the trans has long gearing as opposed to the GSR having better gearing and Vtec? But i hear that the LS trans is perfect for the ls motor because of the absence of Vtec?
My main question is what would be a better choice in the long run, WHILE STAYING N/A?
My goal was to be in the 13's with a semi-gutted hatch, and an NA swap with minor bolt-on's...but let me know what your opinions are about the tranny's and swap combo's...
Thanks.
P.S. Yes i searched, there was too much arguing going on in almost every post i read. I hope you understand...

whoa, umm minor bolt ons as in like i/h/e or is that with im/tb too? i dont' think bolts on will get u into 13s, i'd pick up the gsr swap because you can go many routes and be fast on long and low end runs. do a little more research

Well thats why im trying to research, like i hear tons of different combonations of parts at etc (yes i meant TB, IM, etc) but if i got a GSR swap in a CX i hear i will be in the 13's but than i hear i wont and blah blah....
I just need straight truth and opinions.
Okay how about this for a question then....
GSR in a 92 CX Hatch, Mildly gutted (rear seats, spare, rear panels etc) what 1/4 mile times should be expected, average, and what other mods would bring it inot the 13's if not there already?
Hopefully that clarified something...I just cant get information straight, i heard a B16 swap would be in the 14's.....so im guessing a GSR would be alot less but im not sure....
Thanks again for the help

Your trying to get an answer for a question that has to many variables.
Track elavation, Humidity, tempeture, tire pressure, ect... is the motor you purchase strong or weak (I have seen freak motors run 1/2 second quicker than others, same mods), driver, can you drive good(of course everyone says they can), weight of the car? Just to name some elements.
Heres my personal experiecne:
Even though I love to be an underdog with the ls, go with the gsr if you have the funds. GSR is just a better built engine, made for those high revs and stronger internals.
Stock cx with a GSR you can easily get into the 13 with bolt ones, no problem.
My friend with crx gutted to hell, with an B18b with i/e/h, throttle body, milled head 60 thousands ran a 13.5 with slicks.

in a full interior, full weight hatch, i think you'll need close to 170-175 at the wheels to hit 13s(if you don't use slicks). my old DX hatch had 175hp/125tq at the wheels and it hit 14.0@100 with a 2.2 60ft on bridgestone potenza re92's in 185/65R14. this was a c1 block with c5 pistons and a bone stock b16 head/manifold... oh and a jdm 4-1.
so if you're shooting for this with an LS, good luck.

Consider the h22, you'll get their w/ a stock motor i/h/e, oh and street tires.

go with an ls with si or prefereably a jdm lsd b16 tranny and do a build use p30 pistons and crower 404 cams then do a good i/h/e and throw in some uberdata or hondata and tune that bitch make around 160-175 whp depending on other bolt ons and such and go out and run low 13s and be able to say your non vtec
also if your looking for some help with an ls build you cant skip out on going to http://www.nonvtec.com
