I noticed that my HR Race springs(rears) don't have a shaved top. The thickness of the coil is the same throughout the entire spring......so when I place my tophat ontop of the spring it sits crooked.
I have seen other springs that are shaved down to be as flat as possible at the top so that hat sits as straight as possible.
My question is, will this cause problems at all?? I am using GC tophats and these dont have a "cupping" design like the stock ones do.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on the year/make/model. Plenty are not ground at all.
But Tyson is right, I was thinking the oem hat was stepped, but it is not on a civic.

well, in any case, like i said, if its not, then i wouldnt suggest using it with the ground control top hat. unless you grind down the top of the spring....
crx's are ground at the top.
