Need some help here
Ok, here's the story so far. My grandfather passed away on Saturday morning. He was a really great person and one of my favorite people in the world. It just so happens that I bought a 95 Acura Integra about a week earlier. So now I'm going to start putting mods into it, but dedicate my work to his name. So here's the question...I'm going to buy an intake, but what's the difference between the cold air intake, and a short ram intake? I installed a cold air intake on my Accord, and it seemed to work fine, but what makes the short ram so different? Which would you prefer?
cold air intake draws in colder air which supposedly gives you more power. short ram intakes draw in hot air from under the hood. cold air is better from what ive heard, but if you live in a place that rains a lot you can suck up water and hydrolock your engine because the filter is placed behind the front bumper on the passenger side.
more power out of a short ram. i have the ractive short ram intake with a k&n filter. it's worked wonders. my other car had a cold air intake and i saved a little bit of gas mileage in it but it didn't really make a difference. if you plan on dropping it go short ram otherwise you just have to do more modifications like a bypass valve and that means you have to spend more money on an intake and less on other things. sorry to hear about your loss. hope your car whips every body's ***!
im sorry i would have to disagree. no offense to you or anything, im not trying to insult you im just wondering how you got your numbers. do you have any proof or are you just saying that because you can hear it, it's got more power? and the bypass valve, from what ive heard only works if the entire filter gets submerged, therefore making it pointless. there are many things you can do instead that actually work.
