Default What to do about powersteering?

I have been thinking about leaving my powersteering permanently disconnected. Is there an easy way to make sure the gears get lubricated? Is it ok as long as I attach the belt every so often? Just wondering because some people have told me that it could have some bad effects over time. Thanks.

If you don't remove the fluid, the action of turning the steering wheel should lubricate the gears.
