What oil viscosity for the track?
For winter I've been using Mobil one in the 5W30 weight like Honda recommends. A mechanic told me I should use thicker, at least 10W30 if I'll be ragging it on the track.
I'm changing my oil this week for SpeedTrial at VIR this weekend. It's still getting into the 20s here at night, I usually only move up to 10W30 when we start hitting 90 degrees F. Should I go for the 10W30 or the 5W30? What viscosity will you SpeedTrial VIR Honda-driving participants be using?
Thanks!

You need a new mechanic...
Once the oil is warm, there is no difference between 5W30 and 10W30 from a viscosity stand point. The "30" is the hot viscosity measurement. The "5" or "10" is the cold viscosity measurement.
Traditional "racing" oil is 20-50 or even just SAE 50 (no cold viscosity listed). But, that tends to be for cars with larger bearing clearances than the traditional passenger car.
Personally I run 10W30 Mobil 1 all of the time and there is little need for more than that in a newer car. If you find the oil pressure starts to drop when you are on track pushing the car hard then get an oil cooler, cooler oil is more viscous and will maintain the pressure better.
If that still doens't work then think about thicker oil.
YMMV
