Can't lower 1/4 mile time using Skunk2 stage II

I am using a PnP, 3 angle b16 head, with Skunk 2 stage II cams, Skunk 2 springs and retainers, DC 4-2-1 header, 2.5 piping to the back, and slicks. I ran a 14.3 w crappy 2.2 60 ft. on slicks and a 14.6 on my street tires with my old setup(stock b16 head and CTR cams). The best time I can get now on the new setup is consistent 14.5. Are Skunk 2 II too much for a b16? Any information would help. Thanks in advance.

Maybe 170 to the wheel. People tell me I need more compression to run the Skunk 2 II's. I'm thinking of a b18 bottom end w/ CTR pistons?
you could go b18 bottom end with ctr pistons but that would make your compression pretty high. why not just get ctr pistons and then mill the head as well as get a thinner headgasket.

Head was already decked and I am using a .84 Cometic head gasket. I'm thinking of just throwing back in the CTR cams and run it from there. When I hit the 14.3 on slicks, I wasn't even trying. Now that I know how to run with slicks, I def. think I can hit high 13's.
Why are you using such a thick headgasket? First thing i would do is get rid of that garbage dc header, and invest in a good header such as anr, rmf, spark racing ect. And swap in an oem headgasket with the middle layer removed, depending on how much the head was shaved.

have you got a dyno tune yet. if you didn't thats a must when u put a cam in your car. cams are so hard to get the right timing, but once you get a tune your should see like 14.1 maybe high 13s on your slicks. good luck
you can't expect to run good times with those cams without tuning.
When i had my b16, after putting my Toda B cams in my b16, i went from
15.3 with 2.3 60 to a 14.3 with 2.3 60. just street tuning and manual datalogging. And of course i improved with driving. i experimented with cam timing, manifolds, throttle body sizes and shift points.
Oh, and i was using a CM stage 3 clutch with ACT 8 pound flywheel. Low trap speed though. Only 96-97 mph usually.

The Skunk2's are fine for the b16 you just need to get a better header with a 2.5" collector, a thinner headgasket i.e. shelf stock Cometic .030 thickness with a .5mm overbore, a good tuning session on the dyno and stiffer suspension. This will get you in the 13's no problem!!
If you are thinking about getting CTR pistons, then you should also think about the ITR pistons, they will yeild close to the same results and won't be such high compression!! You can also find the ITR's coated.

also, forget about running CTR pistons with those cams. I would rather have more valve to piston clearance to play with cam timing.
Plus with your setup, try advancing the intake cam with about 17 degrees ignition timing to start, stock injectors, and stock fuel pressure.
And if your revving to 9000 rpms or so, advancing the exhaust cam a crank degree or 2 might make more power in the 8000 rpm range for more area.
You can go to a tuner, or street tune and note your tuning changes before every track session.

Classic!
"how much power you making?"
- reaches deep into the depths of his *** and removes a random figure
"maybe 170 to the wheels"...
Go put it on a dyno and at least tune the damn thing before you complain about what you did or did not gain.

yup, the only way i saw better results without going to the dyno is when i hooked up a wideband O2 and display. Other than that, playing blind gets you nowhere.

"Reaches into the depths of my ***"... huh? **** you bitch! Like its illegal to make guestimations. And you are the godfather of tuning? Kiss my a**
just remove that header and get soem tuning done, than you see where you stand but 13's are def. possible with that setup !!!

I never came in here claiming to be the "godfather". Take your rice math somewhere else. How can you "guestimate" your damn hp to the gound?
header +20
stickers +30
intake +40
yep, I make 90hp over stock! fo sure!

DUDE... stickers are +25... not +30... some "godfather" of tuning you are.

To Hybrid93Eg: I posted here looking for a little help from some guys who know more and have experience. I didn't post to get insulted by some smart a$$ lil $hit. Helpful comments appreciated and keep them coming.

If you think I am not "knowledgable" enough to help you and I don't have enough experience, so be it. Good luck.
