Fuel Pressure Adjustment....Is this normal....Is this safe....Is this ok, HELP
Ok, got an Innovate wideband hooked up and reading in the 11's in A/F.
Running a B16B, Toda A Cams, 2 ply head gasket, Toda header, Skunk2 IM, 65mm TB, AEM fuel rail, AEm regulator, Stock Type R injectors, Holley 255lph fuel pump, rechipped P28 ecu (JUN programming) and all the other bolt-on listed in my signature.
First of all don't remember the stock size of the '99 B16B Civic Type R engine, 240cc or 290cc. Which is it?
Fuel pressure set at 48psi, with vacuum off. Timing at 16 degrees. Running very rich. I have a field vtec controller and have to set it at -20% to get about 13.8:1 A/F at idle.
Now it may not be the best to use the vtec controller to reduce A/F using high percentage deduction so I decided to lower the pressure.
Now I set it at 40psi with vacuum off and with about -11% on idle I get about 12.8-13.1 A/F.
Is it safe to go lower than 40psi on the regulator setting to like 35psi? I want to try and get better A/F without reducing so much percentage on the vtec controller.
The field vtec controller only can be adjusted in 1,000 rpm increments and for daily driving I just set it to around 13.1 for now.
1,000 = -11%
2,000 = -9%
3,000 = -9%
4,000 = -9%
Vtec engages at 5,400 rpm.
5,000 = -7%
6,000 = -7%
7,000 = -5%
8,000 = -5%
I have not pushed the car into the 5,000 rpm range yet. Want to find out if it would be safe to run the pressure around 35psi to 38 psi with vacuum off first. Don't want to cause and unnecessary problems.
Thanks for you inputs.
I want to try and get the best setting with what I have right now.
