Default HELP!!!! INTEGRA WON'T START!!!

ok guys, i need some help before I take it to the shop. My integra starts when i start the car. But as soon as I let go of the key the car would just die on me. I know its not the starter cause everytime I start the car, it STARTS! And as long as I hold the key to the start position the car stays on. BUt as soon as I let go of the key, the car dies. Do you guys think something's wrong with the ignition? Maybe something is loose? If anyone had this problem before or if anyone can help it will be very appreciative. -thanks

as far as i know, its pretty easy to replace the ignition, i'd just throw a new one in and go from there.

guys... its not the ignition switch. power is getting to the starter, its obviously a problem under the hood.

ok, whenever a car doesnt start check for 4 main things
compression
spark
fuel
timing

it might be a timing problem... see if you have slipped a some teeth. maybe its a bad fuel pressure regulator or a clogged fuel filter (that is my bet).

if you want more help, give us more info on when the problem started, some of the conditions, ect ect

also check your fuel pump main relay. car will start but will die instantly if its the main relay

Maybe it's just me, but if you hold the key in the START position I'm pretty sure you grind the starter into the Starter Ring.

As for where the problem is uhh.. I'd start by testing the ignition switch. Because if I remember correctly, with KOEO you should get voltage at the distributor. I'd then go from there..

KOEO Key On Engine Off..

thanks for the reply guys, but we just recently changed the spark plugs, spark plug wires, oil, and compression of the car and its at 225 each cylinder. But yeah, the car stays on when I hold the key to the start position, but as soon as I let go, it would die again. But sometimes I get lucky and it would stay on when I let go of the key. Would it be a high chance its the fuel filter? -thanks

The problem started about a week ago when my brother was pulling into the driveway and it just suddenly died on him. We started and it starts but would instatnly die after we let go of the key. And a week before that was when we changed the spark plug, wires, oil, and checked compression.

Mine used to do that other than your whole holding the key ordeal. If I held my key it would grind as stated above.

Anyhow my problem was my "MAIN FUEL RELAY". My car would start and die immediatly. Its a small black box"relay" located under your drivers side dash.Plug n play.

Get one from the junkyard possibly 3 or 4.They are small so you can pocket them and try that out.

ya... that helps a ton... from that, i would say fuel pump. check the relay first, then check to see if your pump is bad

SO I just checked out the car today and tried starting it again, and I noticed that when I put it on the start position (without starting the car, just putting it on the start position to see the oil lights. etc. ) the lights don't even turn on. So this really makes me believe that its the ignition. Anyone ever have this problem?
