Default car wont idle up after engine build..... Stumped

well i just finished a ls/vtec motor build. it has 12.1 compression and it wont idle up... I have tried to set the idle by unplugging the idle control valve and setting it.. but after i restart the motor it still idles way lower that what i set it at. I keep using the idle screw to idle it up. it idles up for that moment then it just starts idling really low.. and its abnormally low like 400-600 range... im stumped... let me know what u think,.....

Not necessarily the timing belt off. I have a gcrap idle with 203whp, so the timing belt definitely isn't off. Also my tuner messed with my idle big time and we still couldn't get it to idle. It could be your IACV/EACV or a vacuum leak. Idle problems are annoying for sure though.

Also depends on the cams used and how it is set. Usually, larger cams have a more rough idle. Usually it can be solved by advancing the exhaust cam, but may rob you of some power.

You got that right. I've been dealing with a shitty idle for almost 8 months

If it's the cams, try advancing the ignition and tuning the fuel. A msd ignition would help too... if it's the cams. Big cams can be made to idle:

right click, save as, Quicktime format
