b20b vtec piston myth...
ok ive built ls/vtecs. and now its time to do a b20b/vtec. ive searched everywhere and half the people say the pistons wont clear the valves and the other half say they will. i kinda dont wanna experiment and break something. can someone help me.
using a standard b20b or z motor with a stock vtec head(that includes OEM type cams) will not cause any problems. As there is more than enough clearance for the valves and pistons. Just be sure to run either stock cam timing as advancing cam timing may cause problems with piston to valve clearance. Also just like LS/vtec don't rev beyond 8000 unless you replace rod bolts and other parts in the motor good luck
addl note: if you are concerned about piston-valve clearance you can clay the motor to check that, that would be the only other wayto verify if you will have problems

ok cool so all these guys i see cuttin the piston to make the valve relieves larger is really a waste of time.ive personally seen it but i always thought if you do this it would throw off the balance of the motor.
