1990 ex starting troubles
ive been having some starting problems in my accord. i'm really stumped. once in a while it will either not start or barely start then quit right away. Ill keep trying to start it with or without gas and it wont start, but if i let it sit for 2-10min it will start right up. It seems to do it more when its hot, but has done it at night when it was cool too. Any clues? I'd really like to get this fixed.
Thanks

Well does it only do it in hot weather?? If it is it might be your main relay. Honda main relays just love to crap out when its hot as hell outside. If it is just pull it out and look for cracking around the solder. If there is, get a solder gun and fill the cracks and reinstall.
Do a search for "main realy" and there will be directions or links that help you with the job. Looks straight forward. I am waiting for an open Saturday afternoon to take a look myself.

If you can confirm a lack of fuel pressure when this occures, it is (indeed) the main relay.
You can confirm a fuel delivery problem by:
When the engine will not start, disconnect the large air delivery hose to the throttlebody (from the aircleaner box) and spray some Carburetor Cleaner* thru the throttlebody and attempt to start the engine. If it trys to start, this indicates that the carb cleaner substituted for the missing fuel and allowed the engine to start. This is a good "low tech" diagnostic tool and is safer than disconnecting fuel lines to verify pressure.
Probable major culprit: Main Relay
P
* Do NOT substitute Starting Fluid. It is far too volatile and will ignite with the smallest of ignition sourses. Excessive amounts can cause internal engine damage.
