Default 1987 Accord LX (carbed) - Any way to go fuel injected without it costing an arm/leg?

Is there any way to go fuel injected on a 1987 Accord LX (carbed) without having to swap to a completely different motor that requires motor mounts, etc etc?

I know D-Series motors, but not familiar with A-Series motors... Please lend a hand?

I know it will require ECU, harness, injectors, etc etc... (have done many DPFI - MPFI swaps on my CRX, but never A-Series...)

i'd assume it would be like the civic EFI swap. there's a how-to on http://www.3geez.com on this. go over there and find all the info you're ever going to need about your 3gee.

If I were to attempt this, I'd buy an '88 LXi parts car for 200$ and swap everything over.
But why go that route when you can pick up an LXi (inspected) for probably 500$ to 800$ and save yourself all that &^*&%$$# cursing.

Haha, well, it's not my car. It's my friend's fiance's car...

Are the '88's engines interchangeable with the '87 and it's tranny? Thought it was a different series motor...

I believe they are both F20's (2.0 Litre). Changing over to EFI will be a daunting task 'cuz you'd have to change out all but the engine long assembly, and trans. Differences include intake manifold with all related components, distributor, all wiring, engine control modules, vacume harnesses and vapor control systems. On top of this you have to change out the fuel pump.
In effect, you end up gutting half the vehicle just getting to the required changes.

The motors are both A20's.

Write up for EFI conversion:

Ok, I was sure they were A-Series motors... Well, at least the '87...

I should mention that there ARE some slight differences between the 86-87 motor and the 88-89 motor. I don't remember the details, but you can probably find your answers on 3geez.com

cams and pistons are the only differences. the 86/7 was supposed to have had a better cam, and the 88/9 has higher compression. the carbed motors remained unchanged.

I guess my question had to do with going to a fuel injected set-up. What intake manifolds and distributors will fit that head in order to do so? (I know how to do the rest such as ecu, harness, etc etc... Done them on Civics)

just get the stuff from an accord LXi or SEi of the same year and you'll be fine.
