D16A6 Question
I have an 88 motor and its time for a new tranny....my question is if the motor is and 88 do I have to stick with a 88 tranny? Because I heard that the 89-91 motors are the same but the 88 is different. Same thing with the clutch too, do I have to stick with just an 88 clutch or can I use anyone?
There was a smal clutch diameter increase in the later cars.. Dunno if the inout shaft spline count changed . don't think it did.. But all that means is there might be a diffrence in the Clutch kit you will buy.. no effect on trans fitment.
if you get a 90-91 tranny and clutch kit, then you need to get a 90-91 flywheel to mate up with it because of the increase in clutch disc diameter.
if you get an 89 tranny, then youre going to definately need a new clutch disc because the spline counts are different on the transmission. same size (smaller than 90-91), but different inner spline. but i would hope youre replacing your clutch along with your tranny.
