Default Problem w/ Field V-AFC on a d16y8 swap.

I've got a d16y8 swap w/ pg7 integra ecu and Field V-AFC in my rex. I've noticed something strange in the last couple of days. I usually keep my VTEC point at about 5000rpm. I've noticed that under hard throttle, the Field will reset the VTEC point to whatever my current rpm is at the moment even after i'm cruising at 2200rpm. I end up having to re-set it the next time i'm stopped at idle(which sucks if i'm on the highway). I've heard of someone else having this problem with his b16 setup, but he just does the same as I do and re-sets it. The ecu isn't throwing any codes either. It's more of a nuisance than anything, but sucks if the VTEC is activated at low rpm's, ya know? Any input is appreciated.

I have a pretty good idea whats going on. I have the field's piece on my 2000 ex and i have made an observation. It will default to like 2200-2300rpm vtec point if you try to adjust it while you are moving. When you are ideling you can change it with no problem, but not when you are moving. Hope this helps! Email me if you have any more questions. Jwrighty@hotmail.com

Yeah, when I'm idling, I can change it with no problem. I don't think I tried to change it while I was moving, but I'll test that out this week when it stops raining. Thanks for the input!

You were right! It finally stopped raining, so I was able to take the CRX out. If I get on the throttle hard, then after backing off, I check the vtec point on the V-AFC while i'm still in gear, that's when the problem occurs. I know I've always heard to avoid setting the v-afc while in gear, but I didn't think that just checking the vtec point would be in the setting mode. If after I'm hard on the throttle and then check the vtec point AFTER I'm out of gear then it stays at my pre-set vtec point. Quirky-*** Field's! hehe

Maybe it's quirky with some ecu/engine setups and not with others? *shrug*
Weird... but at least I know it's not something serious.
