EDIT They ended up shipping me the original kit. Works great...now I have 22mm rear bar...understear has not been a problem.

Thanks

If you do some research on the Beaks kit, you'll find that many people have had their subframes still tear out even with the kit. There isn't much to it, and if you really look at it, those small metal pieces wouldn't really reinforce the subframe too much. Check out A-Spec Racing and their braces. Cost more than the Beaks kit, but Im sure most poeple will agree that is better handsdown. Another reason subframes can tear out is because some people dont run spring rates that are stiff enough to balance out a big rear sway bar, like a Type R rear sway bar. If you have some crazy spring rates, you might be able to get away with a Beaks kit, but Id rather get the the A-Spec brace. But good luck on whatever you choose.

Thanks...but I've done tons of research on the kit...and the cases which involved tearout are minimal compared to successful usage. This is my daily driver with 335lb rear springs and full stiff agx shocks. I'm well aware of the risk and the ASR kit is on my future list. There are many variables to this topic.

Thank you.

FYI: the pic that I posted above is the "existing" EK kit...the EG kit looks different. I'm looking for info on the "new" EK kit. I'm not sure if they're redesigning the eg kit.

I haven't heard anything, but have you tried emailing them?

as for the relpy about the tearouts .... I've read about two seperate incedents and no more. I wonder what the circumstances leading to the failures were??

From Beaks email reply:

Boy, news sure travel fast! Yes, the SRK-EK is being redesigned but it won't be ready for another month. A prototype is in the works right now. I will post any picture or info as soon as they are available. Thanks for maintaining interest!

having your KYB's stiff wont do much for "anti-tearout"

I currently have a ITR bar on my integra using a BSQ kit. As long as you arent harsh on your car, there shouldnt be any problem running it. This is the second integra ive successfully run a BSQ on.

Yeah...but I don't autox and maybe one or two road/track sessions per year...I'm not worried to much.

Thanks

I've never seen a straight answer to this question. Fact is there have only been a few tearouts with the Beaks kit and I don't think it had anything to do with rear rates, it's just a theory at this point. There are lots of people running ITR bars with stock springs and they haven't hat any issues.
