Default de ricing interior panels?

wanted to know how to take paint off the interior plastic without ruining it.
i searched and found a thread about painted tailights, bit i think that plastic might be a lil tougher.

if anyone has bought a car and done this,a few tips would be really welcomed.

Sometimes, if you can, its best to just replace them.

celulose thinner will take it off but may tarnish plastic, i really dont think it is possible. You could just take it off and then just paint it in a more respectable colour to cover the tarnished plastic.

This is going to sound really odd, but take some nail polish remover and put it on a towel, and lightly rub it. I have done this before, and it will take you a while, but it will come off. Do not put the nail polish remover directly on the plastic though, put it on a towel first. Good luck...

The brake fluid does work. Just spray it right on to the plastic parts. When you get all the paint off, let the panels dry they might look a little faded just break out the armor all, soak it and let it sit for a few minutes. Then wipe them off and reinstall them. I did this with a hatch I bought a while back. Still looks great

I had my interior panels done in suede to match up with my JDM ITR Recaros. If you're having them wrapped professionally, why not have them remove the paint? They are going to have to prep the insert to adhese to the padding (not to sure what the material is they use before the suede/vinyl).

I'm not sure how to post pics but here is some shots of my inserts when I got them back.

As far as the ebay seller, I was also going to order the material from him but it appeared that he only used vinyl. Do a search on ebay for "butmore". I believe this is the guy you are refering to http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...=WDVW

The one thing is if you do get your panels done in suede, you'll have to stop resting your arm on the door insert. I'm still trying to get use to this.

Hope this helps. If you need anymore info or would like pics, feel free to pm me.

trying soaking an area in brake fluid for 30mins to see if it works if not.. get some paint remover at home depo.. i used some gel kind and it was perfect.. just wear protection 1 drop on your skin and it will start to burn in 15 seconds.. i learned the hard way

i use brake parts cleaner.... like the stuff you spray on the rotor to clean the grease off... that stuff takes spray paint off like nothing... but it goes fast.. i have never heard of using brake fluid tho... it might work if they say so.. try it

just get interior paint... and spray over in balck.... the sanding and chemicals not only take a bunch of time and effort, but u need to know what you are doing so that everything is even.

In my opinion, depending on the color that it is already, just get black paint for vinyl and go at it.

Seriously, depending on what type of car it is, door panels are cheap. I just bought 96-00 civic power window door panels for $50

If your interior is light gray, I can sell you all new (well used) interior parts, like the glove box, and other interior plastic panels.
