I'm not sure what a breather valve is, but are u referring to the an open element filter on the valve cover? There's no valve involved in it, so I don't know if that's is.. The only other thing is the PCV, but that doesn't make sense..

If it is the 'tube' coming off the left-rear valve cover, then that is for re-routing oil vapor back into your motor so it's not released into the atmosphere.. That line goes to your intake (not intake manifold).. And I'd be surprised about how (if this is the case) you 'plugged' up the intake.. anyway, if this isn't it, be more specific and we'll try and help u..

maybe this will help.

This is the start-to-end connections related to the crank-case evacuation system on a B18B1 / B18C1:

Air flows through the intake "arm"
Tube from the arm flows air into the valkvecover. It attaches to the valve cover horizontally to a "nipple" that faces the bend in the intake.
Aire flows through the crank case to.....
the PCV valve (should be sitting centerd on top of the rear bank of your valve cover) it is the "L" shaped valve.
Tube connects this vavle straight backwards (towards the back of the car) to the plenum of the intake manifold. There should be another one of those nipple things there.

If he still has factory hoses installed in the car, and you are looking for the hose that goes from the rubber (stock) intake arm, to the valve cover, it will be joined to another hose with a metal "k" fitting. these two hoses look like they are siamese twins, but one flow coolant, the other one air.

I'll work on a picture for you.
