Default VW street car shaking it down at local track..... different piece of pie!

Good friend of mine just finished his car.

MKIII GTI
24v VR6 motor with stock internals and copper headgasket
GT42 non ball-bearing turbo
TEC III
4" downpipe
o2m 6 sp gearbox with diff and stock clutch.

Passes were done on 24.5"x 8" slicks with full leather interior. Pump gas (sunoco 94 octane)

Next time out with 26" slicks to get MPH up there are he is shifting into 5th gear.

Hm, I've heard those things in that year were pretty light.

Those are some good times.

My friend's friend (lol) has a VW with a VR6 with a pro-charger blower out here. Supposidly it runs good. Hopefully we can run them sometime to see what's up

Seems the vr's are becoming the easiest vw engine to make tons of power
(least costliest too). What type of power?????400whp/400tq...i'm guessing
Were gonna run our (430whp/2800lb with driver)16v turbo street car at BOTI this weekend.
Hopefully similar times.

Doh! I'm thinking of the wrong year.... I thought it was the one with round headlights. Stupid me I just looked at the boxy body style and thought it was the II or something.

Sweet car!

You guys have a great forum here. I wish the VW guys (VwPoortex) had an open attitude towards other cars like you guys do here. Maybe it is just the Drag Racing forum, I don't know since I don't visit the other groups, or maybe it is that we all appreciate fast cars no matter what manufacturer they are.

Doesn't this car have some sort of deck plate(Excuse me if I'm not using the proper term), that raises the head and lowers the compression? I remember hearing something like that.

Sweet V-dub............
I wish that they'd allow VR6's and other V6 FWD cars to run T4/SFWD.

Since when can V6 FWD cars not run SFWD?

Straight outta the rule book.

Well played b16sedan. I know that I've read that portion of the book a million times and I didn't think of that.
