Hi, not new to honda's but had to reregister to this site. Anyway, I just installed a japanese equivalent to the D16Y7, not sure which ZC it is since it just says ZC on the block. Anyway, I swapped over the intake and exhaust manifolds, and dizzy from the Y7 to the ZC as well as the wiring harness. Using the computer from the Y7.

There's no Crank Sensor down by the crank pulley on the ZC. It cranks up fine but with CEL. Kinda has a hanging idle also so you have bump the gas to get it to come back down. Checked the timing, doesn't jump around and is rock steady where ever I set it. Can I just jumper this wire? There's three wires, one is black which I assume is the ground so can I just jumper the other two (blue and white) and ground the black? I know many will say to install one, but taking off the crank pulley is a PITA, so I'd rather rewire the dizzy or jumper it. So, as far as rewiring the dizzy that came with the ZC there are 6 wires where as the Y7 dizzy has 8. Anyone know how to rewire the ZC dizzy to the 99 wiring harness?

A CKP sensor is a vital sensor for proper operation of a vehicle.

Now I don't know too much about that motor, so I couldn't tell you if it was supposed to have a CKP but I know that you stock one was supposed to and that is why your are throwing that CEL.

 

I picked it up at Nippon Motors here in SoCal with 4k on it. I've read that it used a cam sensor in the dizzy instead of the crank and that all JDM engines didn't use Crank Fluctuation Sensors.

I guess I'll be trying to break loose that damn Crank bolt..

 

well maybe its a obd2 but i dont have a crank sensor but im obd1 d15b vtec

 

It could be odb2. I'll have to check the year on the block later. I've read all JDM motors don't have Crank sensors instead have a cam sensor. So if that's the case, if anyone knows how to rewire the ZC dizzy (6 wire) to a Y7 dizzy (8 wire) please let me know. I really really don't want to mess with that damn crank bolt...

How about you just get the right ECU? You know the one that goes with that motor?

 

well because what I have done is just use the bare long block of the zc. i reused the intake and exhaust manifold, dizzy, and engine wiring harness from the y7. So to make this work, all I would have to do is install the crank sensor or rewire the ZC dizzy. Also, the engine harness that came with the ZC motor had connectors that you can disconnect inside the engine bay which would mean I would have to look for the other half that goes to the computer (and look for that).
