BFG drag's are good tires. What have you done to your car mod wise? Are you planning on taking it to the track for occasional racing? If you have any kind of decent power your liable to snap a stock driveshaft with them.

As for their life, they obviously wear faster than most tires. I recommend keeping your stock tires and rims and just buying 2 new rims to mount the BFG's on. So you can switch whenever you want.

No you won't. Stock axles will handle plenty of abuse. It's all in the driving style.

Good advice^^. I've only been able to pull about 5K mi.(tops) out of a set. This was normal drving mon-fri, racing sat. night and sun. morning. It got pricey so, after a couple of sets I just had some mounted on 2 seperate rims. They are great tires and a good investment IMO.
